2020 AEEC | AMC, COVID-19 Response

March 20, 2020

We would like to extend our thank you to our community; all our members, sponsors and exhibitors for their support during this time. The 2020 AEEC|AMC physical meeting in Phoenix, Arizona has been canceled. The AEEC is planning to conduct virtual meetings in place of the General Session. AMC is considering conducting virtual meetings as well.

More information will follow when those details are worked out. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to continue to provide value to our industry in this unprecedented virtual way of conducting business. Wishing you all good health through this world-wide pandemic that we are experiencing.

Best Regards from the entire ARINC IA Team to All and Stay Safe

March 18,2020

SAE Industry Technologies Consortia (SAE ITC) and ARINC Industry Activities (ARINC IA) is firmly committed to prioritizing the health and safety of our members, customers, partners and staff who are attending our events. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation evolves on a near-hourly basis, we continue to monitor updates and follow protocols established by all local, state and federal health officials. Should the situation change, we will provide updates on the specific affected event pages on our website (sae-itc.com and aviation-ia.com) with additional status and information.

One Great Venue, Two Conferences.

The Airlines Electronic Engineering Committee (AEEC) General Session and Aviation Maintenance Conference (AMC) join together in one location to bring together industry experts from around the world. The AEEC General Session and AMC provide opportunities to explore common issues and advancements in the industry through discussion and technical symposiums, and direct focus on the advancement of technical standards and committee and working group activities under the auspices of the AEEC and AMC.

The AEEC General Session is an important event on the AEEC calendar. The AEEC General Session marks the culmination of the years' standards development work. New ARINC Standards are discussed and approved at this meeting. Additionally, the AEEC initiates the work program and schedule for the coming year. The AEEC General Session is an ideal opportunity for aviation industry professionals to obtain an overview of the important technical developments in air transport avionics and other aircraft electronics.

The objectives of AMC are to promote reliability and to reduce operating and life cycle costs of air transport components by improving maintenance and support techniques through the exchange of technical information.

The benefits of AMC for airlines are long-term success in economic management and operation of commercial aircraft. This long-term success will require a more holistic approach to AMC aspects of aircraft equipment. Simply put, what is built today based on a new design specification has to be maintained tomorrow.

In the forum created by the AMC, the airlines have various opportunities to influence and determine future directions in system and component design, reliability, and cost effectiveness. Speaking in the context of their daily operations, airlines can bring together ideas for improved standardized maintenance concepts and providing valuable feedback to the equipment manufacturers.

MMC Now Part of AMC

In 2017, the first Mechanical Maintenance Conference was held for the mechanical engineers. The inaugural conference was a roaring success. In 2019, the decision was made to hold the AMC and MMC together in Prague. We extended the ATA range and open forum for all aviation questions with exception of power plant and primary structure.

After the success of the joint AMC and MMC conference, the decision was made to revise the name of the Avionics Maintenance Conference to Aviation Maintenance Conference, so that avionics and mechanical issues can be addressed.

AMC

The AMC Steering Committee Leadership would like to continue moving forward with the 2020 Discussion Items. However, due to the complexity of coordinating an acceptable time frame for our global community, it is not possible to conduct a virtual meeting to include real-time discussions.

As an alternative in support of moving forward, the AMC Steering Committee Leadership requests that responses are prepared in electronic format and submitted to Sam Buckwalter ([email protected]). This request is applicable to all airlines, airframers, and suppliers to provide their responses and input by July 20, 2020. The 2020 AMC Report will be based on the discussion items and the related responses provided.
