DLK Users Forum Meeting Report. Meeting held September 17-18, 2019, in Dublin, Ireland.
The Data Link (DLK) Users Forum (DLUF) met at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, Ireland. A special thanks to Airtel ATN for sponsoring the meeting.
The meeting’s primary topics were:
Updates of the United Kingdom (UK) National Air Traffic Services (NATS) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) programs were provided.
Inmarsat provided an overview of classic aero and SwiftBroadband (SBB) satellite communications (satcom) services, and their commitment to long term support of safety services. Iridium provided a briefing on their Iridium Certus services made possible by the replacement of existing Block 1 Low-Earth Orbiting (LEO) satellites with the new Iridium NEXT constellation.
Several manufacturers and service providers presented their commitment to support airlines needs to accommodate the various CPDLC programs.
The next DLK Users Forum meeting will be held February 4-5, 2020 in Melbourne, Florida and will be hosted by L3Harris Technologies. The next DLUF will be collocated with the next FAA Performance-based Operations Aviation Rulemaking Committee (PARC) meeting.
