Software Distribution and Loading (SDL) Subcommittee Meeting Report. Meeting held February 19-21, 2019, in Irving, Texas.
The AEEC Software Distribution and Loading (SDL) Subcommittee met to continue work on three loadable software projects in Irving, Texas. The meeting was arranged and hosted by American Airlines.
ARINC Project Paper 851: Software Ground Systems for e-Enabled Aircraft
The group reviewed Draft 1 of ARINC Project Paper 851, which will define a single software management system intended to manage software from any source and distribute to any e-enabled aircraft type. Lufthansa led the discussion on creating services to facilitate messaging and transferring data (software) to and from an airline’s ground system to an aircraft manufacturer’s system. This project is chartered by APIM 16-015 and is expected to be mature in October 2019.
Supplement 5 to ARINC Report 665: Loadable Software Standards
The SDL Subcommittee continued work on Supplement 5 to ARINC Report 665, authorized by APIM 18-004. A mature draft is being prepared for the AEEC General Session April 2019.
Supplement 1 to ARINC Specification 843: Aircraft Common Configuration Reporting
The SDL Subcommittee continued work on Supplement 1 to ARINC Specification 843, authorized by APIM 18-005. A mature draft is expected April 2019.
APIM on Software Packaging from Airbus
Airbus presented slides proposing an ARINC effort to standardize software packaging with digital security and removing physical media.
APIM on Software Security from Boeing
Boeing presented a concept to extend security efforts across data loaders and distribution systems. Their proposal included physical efforts, and well as using industry encryption and digital methods.
