Software Distribution and Loading (SDL) Subcommittee Meeting Report. Meeting held September 2, 2020, Virtual Meeting.

The AEEC Software Distribution and Loading (SDL) Subcommittee met to develop the following ARINC Standards:

Supplement 1 to ARINC Specification 641: Logical Software Part Packaging for Transport Ground Systems for e-Enabled Aircraft

The group reviewed Draft 1 of Supplement 1 to ARINC Specification 641. The new text from Airbus documents how to package software from multiple formats onto a single instance of media (in a directory structure). Authenticity and integrity of the data is verified at several steps during the process. The SDL Subcommittee deemed the document mature, and recommended the ARINC IA staff prepare the document for adoption consideration at the AEEC Mid-Term Session.

Supplement 1 to ARINC Specification 645: Common Terminology and Functions for Software Distribution and Loading Ground Systems for e-Enabled Aircraft

The group reviewed input from Boeing about hardening the security for data loaders. The group provided feedback to the proposal for discussion at the next web conference. The document is expected to be mature in early 2021.

ARINC Project Paper 851: Software Ground Systems for e-Enabled Aircraft

The group continued work on ARINC Project Paper 851, defining a single software management system intended to manage software from any source and distribute to any e-enabled aircraft type. American Airlines and Safran led the discussion on creating services to facilitate messaging and transferring data (software) to and from an airline’s ground system to an aircraft manufacturer’s system. This project is chartered by APIM 16-015A. The document is expected to be mature in late 2021.
