Systems Architecture and Interfaces (SAI) Subcommittee Meeting Report. Meeting held June 9, 2021, online.

The SAI Subcommittee met to discuss the progress being made in the development of several ARINC Standards.

ICAO summarized the activities of the Integrated Communication, Navigation, Surveillance and Spectrum Task Force (ICNSS-TF). The Task Force is developing ICNSS Technology Roadmaps to complement ICAO’s Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP).

The SAI Subcommittee expressed support for the content of ARINC Report 678: Guidance for Distributed Radio Architectures. No further work is recommended at this time.

The impact of 5G cellular communications and Ligado systems on avionics was discussed. Aviation Spectrum Resources, Inc. (ASRI) led the discussion based on material presented at the AEEC General Session.

No new APIMs were reviewed at this SAI Subcommittee meeting. However, several program updates are expected to present changes to several existing APIMs scope and schedule. The SAI Subcommittee agreed to an ad hoc meeting to review such APIMs expected to be held August 25, 2021.

Several AEEC Subcommittees are on track to prepare mature documents for presentation at the AEEC Mid-Term Session to be held October 7, 2021.
