Systems Architecture and Interfaces (SAI) Subcommittee Meeting Report. Meeting held October 8-9, 2019, in Renton, Washington.
Boeing hosted the SAI Subcommittee meeting in Renton, Washington.
The SAI Subcommittee discussed future avionic system architectures and the feasibility of distributing Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) radio components in remote locations in the aircraft, such as near the antenna. Strawman material for ARINC Project Paper 678 was presented and reviewed.
The Timely Recovery of Flight Data (TRFD) Working Group reported that it is making progress in developing ARINC Project Paper 681 that will define data streaming requirements and deployable recorders that may be used in conjunction with ICAO's Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS).
Aircraft e-Enablement was discussed in the context of the ground system definition within ARINC Project Paper 851. The Software Distribution and Loading (SDL) Subcommittee provided an updated APIM 16-015A to re-scope the activity.
The SAI Subcommittee discussed several APIMs in anticipation of the AEEC Mid-Term Session in Seattle held October 10-11, 2019.
The collection of APIMs reviewed by the SAI Subcommittee and ultimately approved by the AEEC Executive Committee on October 10, 2019 is circulated with Letter 19-110/AXX-226.
The next SAI Subcommittee meeting will be held February 12-14, 2020 in Coral Gables, Florida. Gables Engineering volunteered to host the meeting.
